Pregaming before the big trip

How did we find this trip? We are not that close to Alex Bay, well maybe 45 minutes or so… but still, I don’t follow the Macsherry Library. I wouldn’t have known anything about this trip to Tuscany if I hadn’t been trolling Facebook and my friend Melissa and Rusty, well Melissa, hadn’t posted about an upcoming trip that would support the library in Alex Bay.

Jim and I were in Florida, we had already secured Scotland and I felt the nibble of the travel bug bite…. so I convinced him and we signed up. I mean who doesn’t want to help a library with a fundraiser?!?

Fast forward to October when we journeyed up to Alex Bay and the library to meet and greet. Melissa and Rusty Rosenberger were there. I guess I should back up and introduce Melissa and Rusty. Melissa just retired from Carthage Central. She taught Charlie and Callie French AND she lived in Carthage and attended Grace Episcopal. Melissa and Rusty moved to Wellesley Island, bought a boat, and when Melissa finally retired, Melissa and Rusty adventured on Providence and completed the Great Loop. What an amazing adventure!

So Denise and Ralph were at the library and good friends with Melissa and Rusty. I think Melissa is in a book club with Denise. And another couple who couldn’t make the meet and greet, but are also going on the trip, Jennifer and Jeff, had decided to have a get together. Truly I don’t know all the back story, but Melissa text me and said Denise was having a pregame at her house on a Monday night and knowing it was a school night, but did we want to show up?

Well, hell yeah! I love pregaming! We were all asked to bring an appetizer to share. Jim made focaccia and his spicy tomato oil, Melissa brought a cannellini bean dip, Jennifer did an antipasti and a pasta dish, and Denise had Italian wines, meats, cheeses, and desserts. Not to mention Limoncello. Denise and Ralph live in Redwood and it is really close to Canada and Denise had found a grocery store that had all these wonderful, delectable foods. What fun it was to meet new friends, spend time with long time friends before we head out to discover Tuscany. I was so glad to be invited and can’t wait to meet up again!
