A Little Free Time Goes A Long Way

After the optional tour to St. Andrews, we had the option of doing the vault tour. Jim and I decided to option out of that tour, but my new friend Caitlin sent me a couple of photos from the dank underbelly of streets of Edinburgh.

Remember when I told you the King apparently flew in for the garden party? Well apparently he is still in town! Another sighting we missed, but caught by friends (not sure if Tim or Margeaux took this video, but here it is).

So that was fun, but Jim and I decided to take it easy after our excursion away… yeah right. Did you know there are lighthouses in Edinburgh or actually Newhaven? Did you know the trams and buses run to Newhaven? Did you know it is only 2.2 miles to walk from Edinburgh to Newhaven? Guess what we decided to to? Yep,… we walked and walked and walked and walked. We found the lighthouse, a couple of light plugs, an ocean cruise line, and the Royal Yacht, which I think is not in service for the Royal Family any more.

We thought about eating at the wharf, but got called back to the city and we opted to go back to Simply Greek. The kind wait staff found us a table right up front where they could keep an eye on us. Caitlin and Jesse joined us and the food was just as tasty as it was Monday night. If you are in Edinburgh, I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. After dinner, we tried to find some more nightlife, I mean the sun is still up, so it has to be early, right? It was WAYYYYYY past our bedtime when we finally stumbled home. Tomorrow we leave for Stirling Castle and Pitlochry. That is going to be a lonnnnnnnng day!
